How to apply

Visa-required applicants use the competent Hungarian mission before travel. Follow the current OIF instructions for the filing route.

What to keep in mind

  • Valid for at most one year; extendable once for at most one further year.
  • No general family-reunification right. Higher income does not change this restriction.
  • Local employment and holding shares in a Hungarian company are incompatible with this route.
  • Visa-required first applicants normally file at a Hungarian mission abroad. Visa-exempt nationals without a residence permit may file during lawful stay in Hungary; follow OIF's exact conditions.
